Aluminosilicate glass is a premium specialty technical glass. Its chemical foundation consists of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), sodium oxide (Na₂O), and most importantly, a high concentration of Aluminum Oxide (Al₂O₃), which typically exceeds 10%. This significant addition of aluminum fundamentally alters and tightens the glass’s internal molecular network, creating a highly dense and stable structural matrix.
The true defining characteristic of aluminosilicate glass is its exceptional responsiveness to Deep Chemical Strengthening. The aluminum ions within the matrix create larger spatial gaps in the atomic structure. During the tempering process (submerging the glass in a molten potassium nitrate bath), larger potassium ions can deeply penetrate the glass surface to replace the smaller sodium ions.
This deep ion-exchange process generates an incredibly thick and powerful protective armor. It yields massive Surface Compressive Stress (CS) and an exceptionally deep Depth of Layer (DOL). The result is a highly durable glass substrate that offers unmatched impact resistance, superior flex strength, and excellent scratch resistance, making it the bedrock material for high-end electronics.
